Read full description of the books:
In a Spy vs Spy thriller, author Steven Nedleton ramps up the Cold War ante when the use of mind control becomes a top secret weapon in the espionage game. Dangerous Trade tells the tale of a group of men and women who are able to control the minds of others in an effort to gain valuable information from “frenemy” countries. Have the Russians cornered the market on the ability to control another’s mind, even from a distance? With false identities spies infiltrate not only the target country’s borders, living among the citizens, but they are also capable of extracting valuable secrets from other agents, as well as mentally forcing them to become like entranced puppets. What happens when these individuals outlive their usefulness or when they become “obsolete?” Who decides their fate?
Steven Nedleton has taken a gripping and gritty international intrigue plot and added a paranormal edge, making the premise completely believable in his well-fleshed out novel. After a detailed and slow build up as he places each brick in place, Mr. Nedleton dares to give us an insider’s view of the KGB, their methods of control, their disposal of excess baggage and their blatant abuse of brilliant and talented minds throughout the decades portrayed in his tale. The characters are well-developed, from the clichéd KGB officers with their cold-hearted resolve to the naive innocents they catch in their web, using them as tools to further the information war. When I finished Dangerous Trade its premise still floated around in my head. What if someone could control our thoughts? What if they could steal our thoughts? Control our actions? What if they are listening to my thoughts right now? Best case scenario, the next time I do something stupid, I’ll know who to blame!
If you enjoy a good old-fashioned thriller, with high stakes and impossibly stacked odds, where the heroes are hard to define, and the ending is far from predictable, you WILL enjoy Dangerous Trade.
